This is the kind of space BLT has been working on for quite a while now. Of course, if BLT’s space should come together it will look much different and it will hopefully meet the…

BLT just got an email with a link to a very powerful review of BLT’s all-female “Jesus Christ Superstar. The link is to Reverend Mindi’s post on dmergent.org blog where she is a contributing editor. You can leave a comment there.

Fully Human Jesus
By Rev. Mindi
On Palm Sunday, I went to the last show of a six-week musical run at our local little theater. I went to the last show of Jesus Christ Superstar. I really wish I hadn’t gone to the last show only so that I could urge others to go see this fantastic production, but the last show was incredible. Amazing. The band rocked, the voices were incredible, and many numbers received applause afterwards or reverent silence.
Did I mention that it was an all-female cast?
I have seen passion plays and other productions of Jesus Christ Superstar that were good, but this is the only production that has ever left me with tears in my eyes, unable to speak.
Auditions for musical comedy “Young Frankenstein” at Burien Little Theatre
Burien Little Theatre announces auditions for the musical “Young Frankenstein,” written by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan, with music and lyrics by Mel Brooks. “Young Frankenstein” utilizes an ensemble cast of characters ranging in age from mid-20s through mid-50s. All parts are open and available and all actors are encouraged to audition.
Synopsis: IT’S ALIVE! A wickedly inspired re-imagining of the Frankenstein legend based on Mel Brooks’ classic 1974 comedy film masterpiece, the story follows bright young Dr. Frankenstein (that’s Fronkensteen) as he attempts to complete his grandfather’s masterwork and bring a corpse to life. But this musical comedy hit, winner of the 2008 Outer Critics Circle Award, is not without scary and hilarious complications. Accompanied by a live musical combo, the show includes such memorable tunes as “The Transylvania Mania,” “He Vas My Boyfriend” and the famous “Puttin’ On The Ritz.”
Performances are at Burien Little Theatre in Burien from Sept. 20 through Oct. 27, 2013. Rehearsals begin in August, though they may start a little earlier depending on cast and director schedules.
Auditions are at Theater Puget Sound in the Seattle Center on Monday, April 8 (Room “C”) and Wednesday, April 10from 7 to 10 p.m. (Studio T4). Callback time, date and location will be announced at initial auditions.
With Sunday’s matinee performance, the run of BLT’s all-female production of Jesus Christ Superstar is now over. At the end of the show, the stage looked a bit forlorn in the afternoon light:
