Good news from the City of Burien, BAT’s landlord! The City will rebuild BAT’s theater space! BAT could not be happier!
BAT thanks the 100 BAT-fans who wrote the Burin City Council at council@burienwa.gov and politely asked the City to rebuild. The outpouring of community support really made a difference. Thanks, too, to the City Council and staff who made this possible.
On February 4, 2014, the City of Burien announced that it had issued the contract to rebuild the BAT theater space. The City hired Belfore Property Restoration to repair the damage.
From the press release:
“Since the fire, Belfor has been responsible for cleaning the building and removing materials that were damaged. It has also been preparing construction estimates and the structural analysis of the building. The fire significantly damaged the roof and other portions of the stage area used by the Burien Actors Theatre and The Hi-Liners for performances and rehearsals. Meanwhile City staff members have worked to assist the two performing arts organizations with finding space in the community to address their short-term needs. The arts groups have been able to temporarily relocate their activities to other venues.
Costs of repairs will be covered through the City’s insurer, Washington Cities Insurance Authority. Belfor has been the named #1 Insurance Repair Contractor on the Annual List of Top 500 Remodelers by Qualified Remodeler Magazine since 2001.”
Let the rebuild begin!
