A GOOD FARMER A MOVING DRAMA WITH HUMOR written by Sharyn Rothstein

Postponed due to COVID-19

Laced with humor and heartache, A Good Farmer is the story of two women—a farm owner and her unlikely best friend, an illegal Mexican immigrant—fighting to survive in a small town divided by America’s immigration battle. Rothstein brings us the very human story behind some of today’s contentious political issues in a play about love, friendship and finding the power to face what divides us.

BAT’s 2020 Shelter-in-place Season consists of five plays read over nine weeks. These five plays are the Artistic Bat Alt logo final color COVID fullDirector’s choice, with only limited oversight. That means they will be different than what you can find anywhere else on social media or streaming. You may like them all. You may like only a few, but either way, I am sure you will be entertained.

Two of the plays have been on BAT’s stage, and three have not. Even if you saw the play on stage, a performance reading is a very different experience. In a pre-pandemic world, BAT would have a show on stage. That is blocked, but BAT has to make theater. It is in our blood.

For you, it is a chance to see a live reading and almost-live theater. (The readings will not be recorded. You must see them live, in real-time, or not at all.) It is also a chance to experience something unique in these twisted times. And because they are presented through Zoom, putting on pants is optional.

Here is the schedule for BAT’s 2020 Shelter-in-place Season (all times are Pacific Daylight Time.

Each reading will be live on Zoom. To be part of the reading, you must donate to BAT. DONATE HERE TO GET ZOOM LINK. (These are very hard times for a small business that sells tickets. BAT’s very existence is in jeopardy.) The donation can be as small or as large as you are able to make. Following the donation, you will be sent an email with the Zoom link and password that will get you into the “show.”

BAT has missed you all VERY much. Hopefully, we all will be together again soon.

Stay safe, and wash your hands!
